The insane Dr. Neo Cortex has developed, along with colleague Nitrus Brio (or N. Brio) a special beam that can make the animals more similar to human beings, called the Evolvo Ray. Purchased an archipelago formed by three islands in south Australia, builds his castle, where is also located his laboratory. The two scientists create their own soldiers and mutants using various specimens of local fauna, and then make them brainwashed by the Cortex Vortex, for the purpose of making them faithful servants. When the time comes to create a general to lead the army, a malfunction of the vortex creates Crash Bandicoot, that without the knowledge of the doctor, will become his greatest nemesis, and sventerà the many and diabolical plans to conquer the world. Crash will be helped by his sister Coco, and by the Spirit of the sorcerer Aku Aku.
