Bills Must Be Paid is a short, active, incremental game where you smash piggy banks to pay bills, collect coins, improve your skills, and get out of debt. You smash piggy banks of all shapes and sizes, each with its own unique characteristics, with a wide selection of hammers. Earning money unlocks more hammers, piggy banks, and stat upgrades that increase wrist strength and stamina. Everything revolves around a single, limited resource: Hand Stamina. Each hammer blow consumes it, and once it runs out, you can no longer break anything. The goal is to pay the bills with the money hidden in the various piggy banks. Bills arrive, and if you ignore them, you go bankrupt. Paying them unlocks perks that help you pay even faster.
