Consult this guide dedicated to Blood Dungeon to discover valuable tips, hidden mechanics, and advanced strategies. This guide reveals the secrets to surviving longer and optimizing character growth in this rogue-like.
Chests appear on altars located at fixed points on the map, not randomly: when you collect one, another appears on a different altar. It's therefore a good idea to learn where the altars are in each arena and circle them using a specific path, rather than hoping a chest will appear where you already are.
Some upgrades have very specific conditions: one, for example, significantly increases your rate of fire only when you're underwater with less than 25% oxygen remaining. In arenas with water areas, deliberately getting close to the edge before climbing back up can be a more effective strategy than avoiding the water out of caution.
Almost every action generates an unlock: leveling a weapon to 10 in a single run, defeating dungeon bosses, leveling up a character. If you always aim for the same winning build, you risk stopping the flow of unlocks much sooner than you could: it's worth deliberately varying your approach between runs.
Bones collected in a run can be spent in the Bone Shop for permanent upgrades such as increased health, movement speed, and jump height. It's not a good idea to stockpile them unnecessarily: the first upgrades you buy have a greater impact on subsequent runs than the later ones.
Each dungeon has three bosses, but you don't need to complete them all to advance: the first one you defeat unlocks the next dungeon. If a run gets complicated, you can still consider it worthwhile for progression once you get past that first encounter, without necessarily having to push further.
Your character can freely climb walls and ceilings, not just floors: when a swarm surrounds you from below, climbing above their reach is often more effective than looking for open ground that might not exist.
The 9 unlockable characters have different starting weapons and traits, and the unlock instructions are visible in the bunkhouse where they rest. Not all characters are suited to the same playstyle: if a run keeps failing with the same character, the problem might be the pairing with your favorite synergies, not the run itself.
