Phone booths are your only save point

There's no autosave everywhere: you must reach one of the phone booths scattered around the map, from which Walker calls his mysterious benefactor to update him on the investigation.Always keep these in mind before entering an unfamiliar area: if you die without touching a phone booth, you lose everything you've done since then.

Saving a shot today can cost you dearly tomorrow

Leaving an enemy alive to conserve ammo seems like the prudent choice, but according to the developers themselves, every encounter should have a price: that enemy left standing can make your next visit to that area more difficult. Before retreating from a fight to conserve bullets, consider whether it's best to end it immediately.

Reloading and drinking coffee leave you exposed

With a pistol, shotgun, and cutter as his only arsenal, Walker isn't a character who dashes from one action to the next: reloading or even just drinking a coffee takes real time, leaving you vulnerable.Don't trigger these actions lightly with an enemy still nearby—a few shots are enough to knock Walker out.

Mark on the map what you can't open yet

As in any Metroidvania, you'll return to the same areas multiple times with new equipment and abilities. An item that accompanies Walker day after day serves precisely to track puzzles and unanswered locations: use it to mark where to return, rather than relying on memory when the area is on the other side of the map.

Don't expect complicated puzzles: they're a break, not the obstacle

The developers designed the puzzles as a respite between combat encounters, not as elaborate logic challenges. If you get stuck on a puzzle in Silver Pines for a long time, you're probably still missing an item or piece of information that can be found elsewhere, not a more convoluted solution than it seems.

Look for unlockable shortcuts before retracing your steps

The map hides shortcuts that only open from one side, typical of the Metroidvania genre. Before you start again on a long route you've already traveled, check if there's a door, a staircase, or a passage nearby thatyou can unlock from the other side: it saves you from having to retrace your steps on foot, with all the risks of encountering the enemies you left behind again.
