Funcom confirms the console release date for its Arrakis survival MMO: from September 22 on PS5 and Xbox Series, with solo mode, new content, and access to Game Pass.
The console version is not a simple port.It comes with a solo mode designed for those who don't want to brave the Coriolis storms with others, the conclusion of the main storyline left unfinished on PC, new content, and tougher difficulty levels for those who have already consumed the initial offer. On Xbox, the game joins Game Pass on launch day—a move that's often worth more than a review these days.
Those who prefer the physical shelf will still find a PS5 copy in stores on September 22nd, printed on disc and not just as a digital code.Japan is a different story, as is often the case with Funcom: both the physical and digital versions will arrive only on October 29th, over a month after the rest of the world.
For those unfamiliar with the game: Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO set on the desert planet of Arrakis, where you must manage your thirst and stillsuit, survive sandstorms and giant worms, and choose a side between House Atreides and House Harkonnen while hunting for spice in the Deep Desert—a zone that changes every week due to Coriolis storms. We'll see if its arrival on console, with Game Pass serving as a driving force, will be able to gain the audience it hasn't yet fully conquered on PC.
