Onimusha: Way of the Sword is officially out: early reviews are a 9/10.

p>After the date advance announced last week, Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrived today, September 4, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.The launch also saw the first critical reviews, and the picture that emerges confirms what was promised by the playable demo from recent weeks.

Nintendo Life awarded the game a 9/10, calling it a "superb rebirth" for the Capcom series.The site particularly praises the depth of the combat system, the same mix of parries and timed dodges that we already highlighted in our previous article. EDGE #428's score roundup also includes the game among the reviewed titles of the month: critical attention that goes beyond just the community of longtime fans of the saga, and it doesn't surprise us at all.

On the technical front, Digital Foundry has published its analysis dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. The video compares the port's resolution and frame rate with its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S counterparts, a useful piece of information for those who still have to choose which console to face Musashi and his clash with Malice.

It remains to be seen whether the entire campaign can keep up with the pace shown in the demo, between the duel against Rasho-gan and the exploration of the Oni Hideout: the initial scores give us hope.
