Konami has released an extended gameplay video for the new installment in the saga, set in a fog-shrouded Scottish town. The release date is locked in: September 24 for PS5 and PC.
The story takes the protagonist to the fictional island of St. Amelia in Scotland, where he is summoned in 1996 to "set things right"—the exact, deliberately vague phrase used in promotional materials.Unlike the entries set in the American town that gives the series its name, the color palette here leans toward much more vivid reds—a choice that, judging by the images released so far, creates a distinct visual departure from the rest of the saga.
Konami has also confirmed a release date of September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC, priced at $49.99.Those eager to jump in early can opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition ($59.99), which includes a digital soundtrack, an interactive artbook, an alternate skin for Simon, and 48-hour early access starting September 22.
Combat remains an option rather than a requirement.Based on the footage released so far, hiding and avoiding confrontations seems just as rewarding as facing enemies head-on.We’ll see if this formula holds up throughout the entire campaign or if—as often happens in survival horror games—the balance shifts after the opening hours.
