Silver Pines, the survival horror that feels like Twin Peaks arrives October 8: demo already on Steam

Silver Pines, the Twin Peaks-inspired survival horror from Wych Elm Games and Team17, arrives October 8 on PC and consoles: a free demo is already available on Steam.

Wych Elm Games and Team17 have set the date: Silver Pines arrives October 8 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2. The game puts you in the shoes of Red Walker, a private investigator hired to find missing musician Eddie Velvet, who vanished in the half-abandoned town of Silver Pines — a place full of corridors that shouldn't exist.

Anyone who's already tried the free Steam demo talks openly about Twin Peaks: the same dreamlike atmosphere, the same sense of a town hiding something beneath the surface. The combat and resource management, on the other hand, lean more toward Resident Evil and Silent Hill — limited ammo, a tight inventory, every item you find can mean the difference between surviving and getting stuck in a dark hallway.

The structure isn't linear: Silver Pines is built as a side-scrolling metroidvania, with areas that only unlock once you find the right item or clue elsewhere in town. That's no small feat for an indie survival horror, and it's exactly what caught attention at the Horror Game Awards' Midsummer Night's Scream, where the game was first announced.

March's trailer already showed off much of the tone: low light, plenty of silence, settings that look like they're pulled from a dream that's coming apart. The demo has been live on Steam since late July, so anyone with doubts can judge for themselves before launch.

We at apocanow will be ready on October 8 with guides and walkthroughs to help you navigate the alleys of Silver Pines — a survival horror of this school rarely gives itself up on the first try.
