Crimson Desert: A Complete Guide to the Abyss and Its Artifacts

Shards stay with you even after you die

Unlike health and supplies, the currency called Shards doesn't reset upon death: you can always return to the Workbench with enough resources to restock shotgun shells, grenades, and power-ups, without having to start over every time a run goes badly.

The safe room resets you, not your enemies

Dying returns you to a safe room equipped with a pod that restores health and medical supplies, but this return also causes enemies in the surrounding area to respawn.Use that room to calmly plan your next foray instead of rushing back to the area you just left.

Environmental progress carries over

Opened doors and previously discovered areas remain even after respawning, so each death doesn't erase your exploration. This makes it worthwhile to open as many doors as possible during a raid, even if you know you might not survive to the end.

Use the scanner on enemies, not just the environment

Pressing down on the D-pad quickly switches to the scanner, which is primarily designed for reading clues in rooms, but it also works on creatures: scanning them before engaging them provides additional information that helps you understand how to deal with them.

Stay close to closed doors during a firefight

Staying close to a closed door as much as possible during a firefight reduces the angles from which enemies can shoot you, while still keeping the target in your line of sight. It's a safer position than remaining exposed in the center of the room, especially against multiple opponents at once.

The roll dodge is your first defensive tool

You can switch weapons or scan with the D-pad at any time, but in the heat of battle, the most immediate move is to roll to get away from an incoming attack.Using it as soon as you see an enemy move, rather than relying solely on the side-dodge on foot, reduces the number of hits you take in phases where you're low on ammo and can't afford to make mistakes.
