Valor Mortis: Invite-On Gameplay Demo
Discover the playable demo of Valor Mortis thanks to footage recorded during the official playtest.Witness the first-person action created by the creators of Ghostrunner, playing as Napoleonic soldier William in this new souls-like.
The Stance Meter Decides Fights
Valor Mortis borrows the Stance system from Sekiro: parrying enemy attacks fills a bar, which, once full, opens a window for a heavy blow and an execution.Against a single enemy, focus on blocking rather than dodging—it drains its meter much faster than weapon damage alone.
Against General Lothaire, stay close to the enemy
The eagle-wielding boss hits hard up close, but stepping back for air costs you the window to counter. Those who have already faced him recommend staying close range and responding blow for blow with a parry, rather than looking for space to maneuver around him.
A quick attack after a parry is more effective than a dodge
Combat rewards those who close the distance rather than retreat: a successful parry followed immediately by a quick strike breaks up enemy combos better than an attempt to sidestep, especially against the more aggressive enemies of the first game. Those who play at long range often end up taking more damage, not less.
Alternate weapons and abilities, don't rely on a single build
The game lets you equip melee and ranged weapons together, plus mystery abilities to combine in combat: using only your sword in hand gives up half your available kit.Try landing a long-range shot before engaging in close combat, especially against more heavily armored enemies.
Expect some camera friction in the first few encounters
The One More Level developers themselves admit that the first-person view can be confusing in tight spaces, with a sense of depth that isn't always clear. If you initially struggle to judge distances during a duel, it's not just your own experience—it's a limitation that's been recognized by those who worked on it.
