Don't skip NPC scenes
1666: Amsterdam builds its investigation on information gleaned from NPCs, story scenes, and environmental clues. Skipping these moments with a hotkey will cause you to miss clues useful for the investigation, changes in character relationships, and plot details that will come in handy later.
Daytime is for investigation; nighttime reveals more.
During the day, your main task is to roam Amsterdam to uncover the identities of the Originals hidden behind human faces: explore the streets, inspect buildings, talk to citizens, and pay attention to resources scattered around the city.Night changes the scenery and opens new secrets - it's worth returning to the same places after dark.
Against taller barriers, press LS plus the action button
Some barriers are too high to glide over: to destroy them and glide over them, press the left stick followed by the action button (A on a controller, or the equivalent on a keyboard). You'll need a running start, so start from a good distance before you hit them.
Charm water to glide over canals
Look at a canal and press R1 to enchant the water's surface, then jump to glide over it following the direction of the moon. The path is marked by glowing red petals: follow them, and collect any LUX crystals you encounter along the way if you haven't already reached maximum capacity.
Switches between Noa and Aaron throughout the story
The game alternates control between Noa and Aaron: both use sorcery to explore the city and uncover the secrets hidden in the different eras that intertwine in the plot.Expect frequent time jumps—they're part of the game's structure, not a misdirection.
