Gears of War: E-Day is the series' exclusive entry for Xbox Series X and S, set for release on October 6, 2026, and set fourteen years before the first game, on Emergence Day, when the Locust emerge from Sera's underground in a surprise attack on humanity. It follows young CGO veterans Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they try to survive the invasion in Kalona City, along with Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes, part of Bravo Team, telling the origins of their friendship. The series' cover combat features redesigned movement and more mobility and verticality, with linear missions and more open districts. Drone, Boomer, Wretch, Corpser, and Reaver return, along with new creatures from the Hollows; Emergence Pits are destroyed with explosives.
