One More Level's first-person soulslike changes date at the last minute and gives up pre-orders: two editions, at 39.99 and 59.99 euros, and a story DLC in 2027.
Valor Mortis is coming out on October 13th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developers One More Level, the same people behind Ghostrunner, announced the move on Steam. At the Xbox showcase in June, the game was announced for a September release (Game Informer said the 24th), so the delay is almost three weeks.
The most curious news is another: no pre-orders. The team explained, as reported by Instant Gaming, that they want to let the game speak for itself. Those who want to buy it will have to wait until release day, choosing between the Standard version at €39.99 and the Deluxe version at €59.99, with weapon skins, cosmetics, and the story DLC scheduled for 2027.
The game is a first-person souls-like set in a dystopian version of the Napoleonic Wars. William, a soldier in Napoleon's army, returns from the dead with superhuman powers and finds himself battling monsters and a conspiracy against humanity.
We haven't found any official explanations for the delay, and we prefer not to speculate on a date moved less than three weeks before the launch. However, it seems like a brave choice to forgo pre-orders: if the game is convincing, the gamble pays off; otherwise, we'll see it immediately. Do you trust a launch without proof?
