Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was released today, August 25, 2026, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.Those waiting for the Switch 2 version will have to wait until the third quarter of the year.

Cold Iron Studios, the same studio behind the 2021 installment, is reviving the series with Daybreak Game Company as publisher. The immediately noticeable difference is in the number of marines that can be deployed at a time: from three to four, which forced the developers to rework the balance of missions and enemy waves.

The real novelty among the characters is the Specialist class, designed to draw kits from other classes and assemble a personal build.Familiar faces also return: Marauder for those who want rockets and heavy weapons, Duelist for direct damage, Machinist for those who prefer technology and plasma, Hunter to slow down prey and hit them in their weak spots, Medic to keep the team on their feet when things get dire.

The enemies have also changed.New variants, inspired by races already seen in the films, have been added to the Xenomorph roster, while crazy synthetics and creatures born from the Pathogen, the bioweapon starring in the latest trailers, complete the picture. After a solid but somewhat repetitive first Fireteam Elite after the first few hours, this variety seems like just the answer.

The launch trailer focuses primarily on the technical side: redesigned lighting, a more robust sound design, and a faster pace of combat than the original.Critical reviews haven't arrived yet, so for now we can only judge by the images. The real test, as always, remains the controller in the players' hands.
