Hot Wheels Infinite Rush arrives on September 7th in early access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with a full release on September 10th – the developers have moved the date forward a few weeks from the original plan.
Developed by Milestone, the same team behind Hot Wheels Unleashed and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. This time, the formula changes radically: out with the closed circular tracks, and into four freely explorable themed islands, each with its own challenges and rival gangs to go head-to-head.
The roster exceeds 150 vehicles, divided into four classes – Drifters, Speeders, Titans, Versatiles – and the Rush Squad System allows you to switch between cars on the fly during the race, instead of being stuck with a single vehicle for the entire challenge. There's also room to build custom tracks directly within the game environment.
After two closed-track games, an open world with over 150 Hot Wheels cars to drive freely is no small risk. The leap in formula is convincing on paper—it remains to be seen whether the islands will hold up to the meticulously crafted circuits of Unleashed 2.
