Geoff Keighley announced it from the stage at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, complete with a live performance of the soundtrack: Mewgenics is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8, 2026.
The game, created by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel—the same names behind The Binding of Isaac—was released on Steam last February 10 after a very long gestation, which began more than thirteen years ago.Its debut on PC did not go unnoticed: over a million copies sold in the first week alone.
In essence, Mewgenics is a turn-based tactical roguelike with a particular twist: you breed, crossbreed, and train armies of cats, each with their own genetic characteristics that determine their strength in battle and behavior.A genre pairing that sounds bizarre on paper, but one that apparently has won over a lot of people.
For those who have already played the PC version, the console conversion doesn't add any major changes—but it finally opens the game up to those who don't have a capable computer or simply prefer the couch.Thirteen years of waiting were worth it, after all.
