Eksil Team brings Hendra's revenge story to Steam, with brutal hand-to-hand combat and destructible environments in a fictional, crumbling Bandung.
Hendra is a law student, not a soldier: when his family is wiped out, he decides to take revenge with his bare hands on the streets of a fictional, crumbling Bandung. That's the premise of Acts of Blood, the beat 'em up developed by small Indonesian studio Eksil Team, launching on Steam on September 30 after slipping past its original "summer 2026" window.
The comparison most often made by outlets who tried it at Summer Game Fest is with Sifu: brutal hand-to-hand combat, fluid combos and finishers, with the ability to pick up almost any object in the scene — from a bat to a knife, all the way to firearms — to make every brawl different from the last. The environments are genuinely destructible: chairs and tables shatter and become improvised weapons, not just set dressing.
We're not expecting a triple-A blockbuster, but honestly a studio this small building an entire, piece-by-piece destructible neighborhood deserves credit just for the ambition. If anything, the risk is that the revenge story holds up less well than the combat — a common pitfall for games that bet everything on gameplay.
