In our previous story we left one question open: when would the patch for the intermediate difficulty level so many reviewers were asking for actually arrive? Fifteen days after the simultaneous launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2, the answer is still: not yet. On SteamDB the build remains stuck at 01.000.001, the same preload version distributed before September 4th - just one step above the disc's 01.000.000, with no patch notes published on any platform.
The silence is most noticeable in the "Update?" thread that appeared on the game's Steam discussions: hundreds of comments, and not a single one carrying a developer badge. Capcom, which over the first two weeks had otherwise kept interest alive with weekly "Oni Memo" entries dedicated to bosses (the latest on Dokyo, which we covered last time), hasn't said a word on this specific front.
Meanwhile another data point rounds out the picture: Famitsu, the Japanese magazine whose score carries more weight than any other on local sales, gave the game 9/9/8/8, a total of 34 out of 40. It's not the perfect score you might expect from a franchise returning after twenty years of silence, but it's still a solid verdict - roughly in line with the 8.6 average the game holds on Metacritic since launch.
The picture, in short, is of a game that sells, that critics like, but that two weeks after release already seems to have slipped down the priority list for whoever was supposed to fix its difficulty. It wouldn't be the first time a single-player game like this bets its long-term reputation on exactly the kind of detail that seemed easy to fix.
