Patch 70 targets 60 frames per second on all current-generation consoles.Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro reach up to 4K resolution, while the standard PS5 tops out at 1440p;Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is supported on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PS5 Pro with compatible displays. These are significant figures for a game that—eight years after launch—still runs via cross-gen backward compatibility: Bethesda is finally providing current consoles with an engine designed specifically for them, rather than one inherited from the previous generation.
Previously announced features remain confirmed: the horror-themed "The Slasher" event, "Legacy Seasons" that allow a past season to run concurrently, and the launch of the "Beware the Blood Moon" season, featuring over 80 legendary weapons that are finally moddable.Patch 70 arrives on September 15th across all platforms.
In short, Fallout 76 continues to benefit from technical investments that few games from 2018 would expect to see eight years later; the question, however, is whether this will be enough to convince players who had abandoned the game to open their Pip-Boys once again.
