AereA returns on September 3rd on PS5, Switch, and Xbox: nine years later, with rebalanced bosses

SOEDESCO is bringing its 2017 musical RPG back to consoles: from September 3rd on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series XS, with reworked progression and battles.

On September 3, AereA finally arrives on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series XS.SOEDESCO first released it in 2017 on PC only, and nine years later, its music-themed action RPG lands on current consoles with a few tweaks under the hood.

The core of the game remains the same: you take on the role of one of Master Guido's four disciples—Wolff the archer-harpist, Jacques the knight-cellist, Jules the lute-wizard, and Claude the gunslinger-trumpeter—with the goal of recovering the nine primordial instruments and putting the floating islands of Aezir back together, shattered into a thousand pieces. So far, nothing new for those who have already played the original.

What really changes is the pace of progression.SOEDESCO has reworked character progression, encounters with common enemies, and boss battles, with the stated goal of making the challenge more gradual (and tougher, in some places) without the peaks that had marked the PC version. No dedicated trophies or achievements have been announced, nor exclusive content for these versions: it's effectively the same game, just better balanced.

Local co-op for up to 4 players remains, probably the best reason to give it a try today: an action RPG where each character literally plays their own instrument in battle is not an idea you see often, even in 2026. Those who dismissed it at launch due to its unbalanced difficulty curve now have another excuse to return to Aezir.
