BEAST OF REINCARNATION

Beast of Reincarnation, patch 1.008 adds graphics options and new Tainted Seeds: Game Freak promises more updates

After a launch criticized for performance and subtitles, Game Freak's action-RPG receives the August 31st update (version 1.0.10) with visual options, boss fixes, and a list of upcoming features.

Beast of Reincarnation, the action-RPG from Game Freak released on August 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, received patch 1.008 on August 31, bringing the game to version 1.0.10. This is the third update after the one on day one and the one on August 15, the first of the two to bring a long list of tweaks (version 1.0.8).

Let's remember how it started: the day after launch, the studio had promised continuous updates, following complaints about performance, story pacing, and subtitles that were too small and unadjustable. Among the things announced were the default graphics being moved from cinematic to performance mode, larger text, and camera tweaks.

1.008 adds two options to enable or disable film grain and chromatic aberration, plus a toggle for post-processing in cinematics. The game has new Tainted Seeds appear in every area, useful for gaining SP, and Destruction Amber has been placed in other locations. Combat has also been changed: ranged weapons with a pressure-held stance now respond better, and input buffering during animations has been improved. On the bug side, progression blocks in some areas, NPC interactions that wouldn't start, a performance drop after unlocking objectives, animation and collision glitches, as well as tweaks to the camera and hit detection on bosses have been fixed.

The studio also listed what's coming: visibility of costumes and skins in cutscenes, automatic collection of enemy drops, skippable events at multiple points, combat balancing, and tweaks to water detection.

We think we're on the right track, but a month-long patch to fix a full-price game leaves a bit of a sour taste. Let's see if the next one will truly eliminate the difficulty issue that many players are complaining about. And you, have you already restarted the game after the update?
