Switch from the battlefield to the strategy view
At any moment you can switch from first-person action to a top-down strategic view, from which you give orders, build structures, commission officers and call up new levies of troops. Don't fight every siege on foot: managing your army matters as much as the gun in your hand.
Start on a motorcycle, then move up to armored transport
Early on you explore territory on foot or by motorcycle to move quickly. As the campaign progresses you unlock cars and trucks that offer more protection, eventually leading to full armored vehicles and tanks: pick the right ride for how dangerous the area you're crossing actually is, not just the fastest one.
Grow your settlements before expanding further
Every new settlement needs housing for peasants, farms on fertile land and lumber harvested from nearby forests. Without that economic base, anything you build later won't hold up: fix the local economy before pushing into the next territory.
Use fixed defenses during sieges
Walls, archer towers, ballistas and trebuchets can turn an uneven fight around. If you're struggling, you can also call in air support and turrets from your team in the present — they're not a cosmetic extra, they genuinely cover the weak points of medieval defenses.
Almost everything on screen can be destroyed
The developers' own motto sums it up: "if you can see it, you can destroy it." Walls, buildings and enemy cover can really be torn down, not just decorative set dressing. Use that destructibility to open new paths instead of always hunting for the door or the gate.
