Do fast cars shake?
Many high-speed cars start to shake and lose speed when in top gear they would still have 80 km/h to give. The cause is the suspension: stiffen it and match the settings front and rear with a difference of at most 10-15 points, stiffen the anti-roll bars by one point and lower the car by 15-20 points. The top speed will be right and the car will hardly shake.
A-SPEC and B-SPEC Points
If the maximum per race is between 16 and 4 points, you are racing with a car that is too powerful. Use an engine with the same power as your opponents or slightly lower, or low-quality tires (cheap or very hard ones), to raise the prize money.
Making Money Fast
Repeat a race: for example, in "Special Condition Circuit Races" on Easy difficulty choose Amalfi and win both ways: 20,000 credits and a free Toyota Rally Car, which sells for about 265,000 credits every time.
Classic Cars and the Black Cars
- Fiat 500 and Panda: in the used car dealerships you find 3 versions of the Fiat 500 (the model year changes) and a 1990 Fiat Panda I.E.: they are only needed for the 4-5 races for the '60s and '70s and for Arcade mode. 14,000 credits are better spent on a set of tires.
- The 4 Black Cars: in the last week, starting from day 694, the 4 black cars appear in the first and second used car dealerships. Get ready with 8,500,000 credits: it is worth it.
Useful Tricks
- Settings: while scrolling through the cars in the garage press START for the settings; after changing them press START again to edit the power and engine rpm curves.
- Replays: L3 makes them play faster; press Square 4 times for night-vision shots.
- Automatic transmission: to stay in the current gear, hold R2 and release it when you want.
- Oil change: as soon as you receive or buy a car, change the oil even if the computer says it is not needed: you gain up to 40 horsepower.
