Cheats and Secrets for Killzone 2 on PS3

Introduction and Game Plot

Killzone 2 is Guerrilla Games' shooter for PlayStation 3. This page features the Elite difficulty, which opens after completing Story mode, and the ribbons you earn for specific tasks. For example, a ribbon dedicated to air support requires five kills with that type of assistance, while other ribbons concern defense and multiplayer missions.

Cheats and Unlockables

Elite difficulty: complete Story Mode.
Returning to the last checkpoint: during the game hold R2 for a few seconds.
"Melonpopper" trophy (15 headshots with the PR-6 sniper rifle): when you lower the Salamun Bridge for the squad, take the sniper rifle from the armory and go out the door without heading toward the bridge. Above the road there is a turret with a rifleman: shoot him in the head, wait a few seconds (they replace him) and repeat.
"Safety First" trophy (100 Helghast helmets): shooting helmets off bodies counts too.
"Untouchable" trophy: if you die, pause and restart the level: the death counter goes back to zero.

Multiplayer Ribbons

Complete the indicated task to earn the ribbon:

Air support: 5 kills with air support. Assassination defense: stay alive as the target. Assassination kills: kill a target.
Body count: 10% of the squad's kills in the mission. Boost: 5 boosts. C4: 5 kills with C4.
Capture and hold: 10 mission points by capturing a point. Stealth: 5 enemies killed in camouflage mode. Disguise: 5 enemies killed while disguised.
Close combat: 10 melee kills. Headshot: 10. Death count: 10 kills in one round.
Good conduct: no team kills or suicides and at least 20 points.
Heal: 5 players. Repair: 5 objects. Revive: 5 players.
Search and destroy: 2 objectives planted or defused. Search and retrieve: 2 objectives returned.
Special weapons: 10 kills with pistols. Sniper: 10 with the sniper rifle. Spawn point: 5 players spawning in the deployed area. Search and aim: tag 5 players. Turrets: 5 kills with the turret.

Medals and Rewards

8 ribbons: Aerial Supportive (air support), Defensive Specialist (turrets), Explosives Expert (C4), Field Mechanic (repair), Field Medic (heal), Forward Observer (search and aim), Front Runner (boost), Master of Disguise (disguise), Natural Born Killer (death count), Shadow Marshal (stealth), Spawn Authority (spawn point), Trauma Surgeon (revive), Example Soldier (good conduct). Each unlocks a second ability of the corresponding class or a bonus (for example more grenades or more starting ammo).
5 ribbons: Assassins League, Black Belt, Bodyguard Alliance, Bomb Squad, Corpse Counter, Defense Initiative, Head Fetish, Retrieval Corps (increased points for the corresponding action), Hawk's Eye (second sniper zoom), Quick Draw (M4 revolver as a secondary weapon).
Clan Challenges: Meritorious Unit Award (10 ribbons: 1,000 Valor; 25: 10,000 Valor), Army Superior Unit Award (50 ribbons: 100,000 Valor).

Ranks

Corporal: 30 points, difference 30 (Squad Options). Sergeant: 100 points, difference 70 (Clan Options).
Sergeant 1st Class: 200 points, difference 100 (rifle and SMG). Master Sergeant: 350, 150 (medic medal).
Sergeant Major: 550, 250 (HGH and ISA LMG). Lieutenant: 880, 250 (engineer medal).
Captain: 1,100, 300 (VC9 rocket launcher). Major: 1,450, 350 (tactician medal).
Lieutenant-Colonel: 1,850, 400 (grenade launcher). Colonel: 2,300, 450 (saboteur medal). General: 2,800, 500 (scout medal).

Trophies

Platinum: earn all the Killzone 2 trophies.
Gold: complete all the missions on Elite difficulty; Career Ribbon (online rank General); Valor Grand Cross (weekly rank no. 4).
Silver: Maelstrom Ribbon (complete Maelstrom Barrens), Survivor (all the missions on any difficulty), Valor Cross (weekly rank no. 3).
Mission ribbons (Bronze): Corinth River, Blood Meridian, Visari Square, Salamun District, Salamun Bridge, Suljeva Village, Tharsis Refinery, The Cruiser.
Bronze (kills): Pallbearer (20 Helghast), Undertaker (200), Reaper (1,000), Berserker (25 with melee attacks), Blade Runner (10 with the knife), Defensive Fighter (30 with an improvised weapon).
Bronze (other): Field Agent (all the intel), Iconoclast (destroy all the Helghast symbols), Untouchable (all the missions without dying), Babysitter (revive friends 25 times), Bullet Counter (reload manually 150 times), Barrel of Death (2 Helghast with the environment), Professional (3 consecutive headshots with the revolver), Fragmerchant (5 Helghast with one frag grenade), Fragmartyr (2 Helghast and yourself with one grenade), Run and Gunner (3 Helghast with one assault rifle magazine), Killing Spree (5 Helghast in 15 seconds with at least 85% health), Safari Hunter (kill one enemy of each type in melee).
Secrets (Bronze): Elementalslayer (ArcTrooper at Tharsis Refinery in 1:30), Giantslayer (Heavy at Blood Meridian in 1 minute), Dragonslayer (ATAC at Salamun Bridge in 1:30), Demonslayer (Radec at the Visari Palace within 20 minutes), Stick Around (20 Helghast pinned to the wall with the VC-21 Boltgun), Master Conductor (3 Helghast electrified with one AR-X magazine), Can Opener (destroy a Helghast APC), Spare Parts (all the Leech Pods in The Cruiser), Treadhead (30 Helghast with the ISA Tank), Mechspert (10 Helghast with the exoskeleton at Maelstrom Barrens).
