If you saw "October 16" next to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and thought it was a launch, think again: that's just the campaign's early access date. The actual game launches on Friday, October 23, 2026, with the campaign, multiplayer, and DMZ all rolled into one.
Early access is available to those who pre-order the Digital Standard Edition or the Vault Edition on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. For multiplayer, you'll still have to wait an extra week. It's not a bad marketing move, but we wonder how many will see it as a real advantage: seven days of pure story isn't for everyone.
The campaign follows two threads. On one side, there's Private Park, a young South Korean in his first real combat, who finds himself in the middle of the North's invasion of South Korea. On the other hand, there's Captain Price, who moves outside the official channels on a mission of personal revenge. We travel from Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai, between trenches, undercover operations, and cinematic sequences.
Multiplayer starts with 12 6v6 maps, the Gunfight maps and the Big War maps, larger and with vehicles. The new feature is Kill Block, where the map reshapes between rounds. Then there's Ballistic Authority, the system that promises a more "real" shot, without bloom and without having to guess where the bullet ends up. DMZ remains the extraction mode, alone or in a team, with dynamic objectives and changing weather.
Those who have played any of the Call of Duty games released from 2019 onwards have a 10% discount on the Vault Edition when pre-ordering. We at apocanow will be keeping an eye on cheats and guides as soon as the game is released. Will you play the campaign immediately on the 16th, or wait for the whole package on the 23rd?
