Back on September 8 we told you Dune: Awakening would land on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22. Today's the day: Funcom's survival MMO is officially live on console, complete with solo mode, Game Pass on Xbox from day one, and the closing chapter of the story left hanging on PC.
Funcom didn't just port the game over as-is. Alongside the launch comes Filmic Archive, a paid DLC ($9.99) directly inspired by Denis Villeneuve's films. Inside you'll find the Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor, drawn from Paul Atreides' visions of the Fremen holy warriors in the first film, and the Caladan Stormcoat worn by Paul and Duke Leto — plus a 73-piece Sardaukar-themed building set for anyone who wants to recreate the imperial aesthetic in their own base. A rather elegant way to tie the game to the film saga, instead of just referencing it in lore text.
There's also news that affects everyone, not just console owners: cross-play between PC and console has been confirmed, even though Funcom hasn't set a precise date yet — it's coming “after launch,” a phrase that usually means a wait of weeks or months. On PS5 Pro, meanwhile, players will be able to choose between Performance Mode (60 fps, dynamic 4K) and Quality Mode (30 fps, dynamic 4K), depending on whether they prefer smoothness or visual detail.
It remains to be seen whether cross-play will actually be enough to unite a community that's lived split between PC and console so far. In the meantime, new arrivals on Arrakis can already test themselves in the Deep Desert — watch out for the Coriolis storms.
