Assassin's Creed Shadows is an installment in the series developed by Ubisoft Quebec, released on March 20, 2025 after a delay from its initial release date of November 15, 2024. It is set in Japan in 1579, during the arduous path to unification led by the daimyo Oda Nobunaga. The two playable protagonists are Naoe, a skilled shinobi Assassin from the Iga province, and Yasuke, a powerful African samurai of historical legend, who in the turbulent late Sengoku period discover their shared destiny and usher in a new era for Japan.
