Resident Evil 2 arrives on Switch 2 on October 16, but only digitally (for now)

Capcom is bringing the Deluxe Edition of the remake to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, with early adopter discounts until November 7. The physical version doesn't arrive until January 2027.

On October 16, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition arrives on Nintendo Switch 2, but only in digital format. Capcom also brings Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on the same day, thus completing the trilogy of modern remakes to the new hybrid console.

The RE2 Deluxe Edition includes all the DLC released so far: two costumes for Leon, three for Claire, the deluxe version of the Samurai Edge weapon, and the alternative soundtrack. Resident Evil 4 arrives in its Gold Edition, with "Separate Ways" (Ada Wong's campaign) and the extra pack of costumes and weapons. Details of the Resident Evil 3 bundle are not yet known.

Pre-orders before launch will find different discounts for each title: 25% on RE2, a whopping 34% on RE3, and 20% on the Gold Edition of RE4. The offers are valid until November 7th, not just on launch day.

The physical version, on Game-Key Card, is postponed to January 2027 - and it isn't even confirmed for North America. Those who want to play it on cartridge will have to wait more than three months after the digital release.

Capcom hasn't yet said anything about the specific technical performance of the Switch 2 - resolution, frame rate, or any additional console features. "More to follow," the press release promises, so some details will arrive before the 16th.
