Alternative Intro Sound
At the title screen press Down + Y to record with the microphone. To listen again press Down + X (Down/Left + X slower, Down/Right + X faster). The recorded sounds can be heard in the intro sequence.
Heidi Shadows
Heidi Shadows is a cheating ninja who sells sweets to earn skill points and Simoleons. To find her you have to connect with someone to unlock the planet's strange locations: at the phone in the SimNeighborhood near the Flea Shop go to the spot with the planet, climb the stairs at the top of the map and head toward the door. Her shop appears only for an hour and then disappears. After you come back from the bayou and are arrested for speeding, talk to Detective Dan Mann with 100 relationship points: he tells you about a tunnel dug by an escapee; go back to the cell and the poster has become a tunnel.
- Where to find her: 1:00-2:00 use the time machine for November 29, 1984 (after level 5); 2:00-3:00 at the Carnival; 4:00-5:00 on Paradise Island; 6:00-7:00 in the secret tunnel between the Prison and the Dark Tree; 10:00-11:00 on Moonbase Zeta.
- What she sells: Rosebud Smoothie (+2,000 Simoleons); Silver Tongue (+1 Charisma); Gourmet (+1 Cooking); Clock (+1 Mechanical); Buff (+1 Body); Mind (+1 Logic); DaVinci (+1 Creativity); Slip of Paper (the Club Xizzle password and the Cherry Tiramisu recipe).
Club Xizzle and Moonbase Zeta
- Club Xizzle password: "bucket".
- Moonbase Zeta (where you buy the Rocket Bed and the Cheese Modulator): buy a green meteorite at the Internet Shop and, keeping it in your pocket, go to the Red Phone in the SimNeighborhood and choose "Home". First complete the first group of missions (and the secret missions if it is not yet accessible).
Money, Popularity and Free Items
- Easy money: sell some parts of your Hogg at the Parts Shop; buy an easel, paint and sell the painting at the shop (25-300 Simoleons).
- Easy popularity: unlock Phoebe Twiddle's garbage chute and put a bed, shower, fridge and the essentials in it, then go to the nearby Club Xizzle to talk to people.
- Free items: invite someone home; if they like the place they give you an item (otherwise raise the relationship to 90-100, leave, re-enter and invite them again). Examples: Berkeley Clodd 3-Card Monte table; Busta Cruz punk shirt; Cannonball Coleman music stand; Crystal magic lamp with bed and bathroom; Darius Uncle Suede's cane; Dr. Maximillian Moore periodic table; Dusty Hogg Searing Ray sign; Ewan street lamp; Giuseppi Halfpint orange pedestal; Lily Gates Statue of Liberty; Luthor L. - Every 30 days of play: Mardi Gras Mask (30), Jack-o-Lantern (60), Pilgrim Gnome (90), Candy Cane (120).
- Free services: call a service, and when it is about to finish leave and re-enter: they have gone and you finish the job yourself without paying.
- Lower rent: after bringing it down to 40% it drops further; with a roommate it is halved.
- Cooking: with Cooking skill 8 everything you cook succeeds.
- Safe: Detective Dan De Mann gives it to you if you invite him home.
- Piles of garbage: pick up and keep all the ones you find: they are needed for the Artsies missions.
- Phone: always answer: sometimes you can win items.
Islands
- Paradise Island map: on the upper level of the casino ship, near the helm (ship at the harbor at the bottom of the stairs of the Glasstown lot). Once you take it, leave and re-enter: it always reappears.
- Splicer Island plan: in Urbania look at the garbage truck near the university and press A.
- Getting to Splicer Island: give food to Monkey (the park monkey) to find out the details, complete Missions 2 to open the SimNeighborhood and talk to Sharona Faster at the harbor: she tells you about a water taxi; follow the instructions and a ship arrives. Alternatively, complete "Daddy Bigbucks and the Xizzle Factory" to get a helicopter and fly it near the ship until the yellow arrow appears, then press A.
- Curing Boo: the cure for vampirism is the Chocolate Decadence recipe (2 chocolate + 1 flour).
- Self-portraits: near a self-portrait press R to invert the colors. Stand near a piece of furniture and press R to change its color (not all of them have variants).
Rep Missions and Storage Areas
- Rep Missions (relationship at 100%): Luther Bigbucks (Richies), Darius (Streeties), Polly Nomial (Nerdies), Roxanna Marie (Artsies).
- Group rewards: Artsies: Bod-Mod Booth. Nerdies: Brain Data Infuser for Mad Skills. Richies: Sensory Depravation Tank. Streeties: Ultimate MP-DEE Stereo System.
- Storage areas: Abandoned Quarry in the SimNeighborhood (Ewan Watahmee), Old School near the Economics Shop (Giuseppi Halfpint), Garbage Chute at the entrance to Club Xizzle (Phoebe Twiddle), Projection Booth in Glasstown (Theresa Bullhorn), Hole behind the poster in prison (Detective Dan De Mann).
