Cheats and Tips for Monster Hunter Freedom on PSP

Introduction and Game Plot

Monster Hunter Freedom is Capcom's monster hunting game for the PSP. The page explains an item duplication trick that requires two players and the online gathering room. You give all the items to be exchanged to the other player and then turn off the game without saving; there are some items that cannot be exchanged, and the note reminds you of this.

Cheats and Tips

Duplicating Items

Play with 2 players: prepare all the items you want to trade and go to the online gathering room. Give the other player all the items you want (some cannot be traded). While the other player is still in the room, turn off the game without saving. Turn it back on: you still have all the traded items. Have the items given back and you will have doubled them.

Training School

Unlock the Level 2 Quests from the town sage and complete "The Great Kut-Ku of the Jungle": you unlock the Training School, where you can fight the Kut-Ku with limited weapons, armor and items. After defeating other powerful monsters you can train against them too.

Pig Friend

Near the start of the game, look for a pig following a man near the village. Hit it: some music starts. When it stops, press X and the pig is yours.

Easy Money

Koto Farm: complete all the Level 1 Quests. Talk to the man near your house (to the left of the south entrance): he sends you to the Koto farm. Do what you can (mining, fishing) and sell the items. Then go back to the man, but do not talk to him: look at the house behind him and go in. Talk to the girl in red between the old man and the girl in blue: she gives you a list of quests. Choose the easiest level and a gathering quest: take the Paw Print from the supply box, send it to the other box and the quest is complete. Repeat to renew the farm.
Crystal quest: after the Level 1 Quests choose the last quest. You need 200 Zenny and 1 or 2 pickaxes. Take the supplies, eat meat for stamina and follow the path from 2 to 5 (kill the Gendromes), then from 10 to 11 where you mine the crystal. Go back the same way. Deliver it to 1: 3,000 Z and 200 Z x 2 as payment.
Velocidrome: after "A Formidable Velocidrome" take a Bonekris or Bonepick (better), upgrade it to a Bonespike and kill the Velocidromes and many Velociprey, collecting the hides. Sell everything, then to the farm: about 1,100 Z with a single life.
Forest/Hills gathering: in the supply box take the map and the Paw Pass. In Area 2, in the first rock on the left when entering from Area 1, you find a Kut-Ku Scale or a Paintberry to sell.
Swamp gathering (4-star guild): take the pickaxes (4 if you mine iron) and mine all the quarries: Dragonite, Union, Machalite and other ores to sell or keep for professions.

Fast Armor

After the Level 1 Quests you find "Your First Hunt" (kill 3 Velociprey). Then mine and do the mining quests, and craft the Velociprey armor with metals and items. Do "Gift for the Armor" twice to get the Kelbi Hide.

Monster Bone+

Complete "Kut-Ku Attack" (4 stars): you may get a "Small Kut-Ku Ear". Sell the rest of the Kut-Ku and do a gathering quest in the forests and hills: in Area 7 the little man trades the ear for a Monster Bone+ (3 times). Another, longer way: the 4-star quest "Storm of Yian Kut-Ku": with at least 10 kills you get about 6 Monster Bone+.

Easy Bosses

Garuga: bring 99 Level 2 Bullets. Climb the smaller hill: Garuga does not climb. Shoot it in the head: 40,000 Z.
Kut-Ku: with a bow and 99 Level 2 Bullets, shoot it in the head until it falls.
Glitch in "Garuga's Revenge": bring only weapons, armor and 1 Spiderweb. Go to Area 7 (through Areas 1 and 8) and talk to the little man: he gives you a special mushroom for the Spiderweb. Accept, sit down and wait for the time to run out: the quest counts as completed. The next time the trick does not work, but if you kill Garuga (with only 1/3 of its health) you can use it again. This way you get Garuga armor and weapons and lots of money.

An easy and cheap armor: Hunter Helm helmet, Battle Mail body, Chain Vambraces arms, Velociprey Tasset waist, any boots. Format: item = components (success chance).

Healing: Potion = Blue Mushroom + Herb (95%); Mega Potion = Potion + Honey (90%); Max Potion = Mega Nutrients + Dragon Toadstool (65%); Antidote = Antidote Herb + Blue Mushroom (95%); Herb = Sap Plant + Insect Husk (95%); Nutrients = Blue Mushroom + Godbug (90%); Mega Nutrients = Nutrients + Honey (75%); Honey = Firefly + Special Mushroom (90%).
Boosts: Armorskin = Catalyst + Armor Seed (65%); Mega Armorskin = Armorskin + Pale Extract (55%); Demondrug = Catalyst + Power Seed (65%); Mega Demondrug = Demondrug + Pale Extract (55%); Immunizer = Catalyst + Dragon Toadstool (75%); Catalyst = Bitterbug + Honey (75%); Ancient Potion = Immunizer + Kelbi Horn (55%); Cool Drink = Ice Crystal + Bitterbug (95%); Hot Drink = Hot Pepper + Bitterbug (95%).
