Introduction and Game Plot

The Sega Genesis Collection for PSP is a collection of SEGA classics for the Mega Drive, now available in portable form. The page lists the arcade versions of some games that are unlocked by completing tasks within the collection. For example, Astro Blaster comes after Episode 1 of Comix Zone, Eliminator after Level 2 of Altered Beast, and Space Fury after the bonus level of the first level of Ristar.

Unlockables

Astro Blaster (arcade): complete Episode 1 of Comix Zone. Eliminator: complete Level 2 of Altered Beast. Space Fury: reach the bonus level in the first level of Ristar. Super Zaxxon: unlock and play every Genesis and action game once. Tip Top: collect a Chaos Emerald in Sonic The Hedgehog.
Interviews: play Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Shun Nakamura), Phantasy Star 2 (Tohru Yoshida) or Sonic The Hedgehog (Yuji Uekawa) once. Trailers: Phantasy Star Universe (by playing Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4); Virtua Fighter 5 (by playing Virtua Fighter 2).

The buttons are given in the Genesis format (A, B, C).

Altered Beast

Options menu: at the title screen hold B and press Start. Level select: enable the options menu, choose the level and hold A + Start at the title.
Beast select: at the title hold A + B + C + Down/Left and press Start; use the D-Pad to change beast, Start to exit. Sound test: A + C + Up/Right and Start.
Continue: after losing a life hold A and press Start: you restart from the last point played.

Comix Zone, Flicky

Comix Zone: Shoulder Charge: Back, Forward + Action; Accelerator Kick: Down, Up + Action. A secret gag: after defeating the enemies in a room press Down repeatedly. Pause and wait for Sketch to say "Sega".
Flicky: bonus picture: complete levels 1 to 10 in less than 20 seconds with a perfect score in the bonus levels (over 240,000 points): a picture appears in the lower left corner. Game select: hold Up + X + Circle + Start before the first level; release at "Level 1" and use Up/Down.

Golden Axe

Golden Axe, level select: at the character select in Arcade hold Down/Left + B and press Start; change the number in the upper left with the D-Pad. 9 continues: select Arcade, hold Down/Left + A + C, release and press Start.
Golden Axe 2, level select: at the intro hold A + B + C and press Start; release B and C but keep holding A; "Options" + B + C, "Exit" + B + C, number of players + B + C, "Normal" mode + B + C, highlight a character and press Up + B + C + Start; use A or B to change level. Extra continues: at the title highlight "Options", hold A + B + C and press Start, release A, enter the options and exit: 8 credits at the character select.
Golden Axe 3: choose a character and quickly press A(4), Start, C(5) before level 1 for the level select; Up/Down and Start.

Ristar

Passwords: ILOVEU; Configuration Mode: MAGURO; Time Mode: DOFEEL; Boss Mode: MUSEUM; Expert Mode: SUPER or SUPERB; Reveal Items: MIEMIE (a silver star marks a bonus life, gold stars or treasures); Credits: AGES; Disable all codes: XXXXXX.

Sonic The Hedgehog

Level select and sound test: at the title press Up, Down, Left, Right (you hear a sound), then hold A and press Start.
Debug mode: at the title press Up, Circle, Down, Circle, Left, Circle, Right, Up, Circle, Down, Circle, Left, Circle, Right, Circle, then hold Square and press Start; in game press X to enter Debug.
All Chaos Emeralds: enable the level select, choose the starting level and, in game, press Start and Square to return to the title; when Sonic appears press Up, Circle, Down, Circle, Left, Circle, Right (sound); with Square + Start open the select, highlight the Special Stage and hold Square + Start; in Debug you can fly to the emerald. Repeat for all of them. An alternative is to choose "Bonus Stage" with the cheat code active and repeat.
Bonus points: complete Green Hill 1-1 or 1-2 in 29 seconds or less for 50,000 points. With Debug the clock stops: bonus of 50,000. Time/points table: 0:30 = 50,000; 0:45 = 10,000; 1:00 = 5,000; 1:30 = 4,000; 2:00 = 3,000; 3:00 = 2,000; 4:00 = 1,000; 5:00 = 500.
Infinite lives: collect the extra life at the end of Green Hill Act 3, collect 100 rings for another life and take a third life at the top of the loop-the-loop; lose a life on purpose and repeat.
Special Stage: the giant ring stays open almost always if you do not lose rings; if you lose them, lose on purpose at a checkpoint and continue without losing them (it works 80% of the time).

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Level select: in the Sound Test choose sounds 19, 65, 9, 17 in this order (sound), then hold Circle and press Start, and Square + Start when Sonic and Tails appear.
Debug mode: with the level select active, in the Sound Test choose sounds 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4 (sound); choose a level and hold Square + Start until the game starts; it only works when playing as Tails. Level editor: in Debug press B: Sonic becomes an object to paste with C; A changes the object; B starts over.
Super Sonic: in the Sound Test choose 4, 1, 2, 6; start a level, collect 50 rings and jump. If you do not have them, turn into a ring overlapping Tails and drop rings: after 50 you return to normal and jump to become Super Sonic. 14 continues: Sound Test 01, 01, 02, 04 and Start.
Tails becomes Miles: at the title press Up(3), Down(3), Up (in the Japanese version it is the opposite).
Super Sonic and Super Tails: with level select and Debug active, get 50 rings and become Super Sonic, then use Debug to become a television and break it: Super Sonic plays like the normal one while Tails gets the powers of Super Sonic (invincible) for a number of rings equal to the ones you had.
Infinite speed shoes: in 2-player Versus hit monitors until you find the shoes, then lose a life on purpose: you keep them for the rest of the level.
Super Sonic sign: with all the Emeralds you become Super Sonic when the end-of-level sign shows Sonic. Flames that follow you: in Debug at the Death Egg Zone, after the 2 bosses, go to the flames area and return to where you defeated the robot. Shortcut at Wing Fortress: while invincible go through the swords and jump onto the platform on the right: half the level is done.

Shinobi 3, Vectorman, Virtua Fighter 2

Shinobi 3, invincibility: in the options menu choose "S.E." and press B to play in order "He Runs", "Japonesque", "Shinobi Walk", "Sakura" and "Getufu". Infinite shurikens: set "Shurikens" to 0, the Sound to "Shuriken" and reselect Shurikens: the 0 becomes "Infinite". Completing a level without throwing shurikens is worth 30,000 points.
Vectorman: cheat mode (in the options): Square, X(2), Square, Down, Square, X(2), Square (you do not get the good ending). Full health (pause): Square, X, Right, Square, Circle, Square, Down, Square, X, Right, Square. Free movement (pause): Circle, Square, Left(2), Square, Circle, Square, X (a cursor that eliminates non-boss enemies). Slow motion: Down, Right, Square, Circle, Up, Left, Square. Bonus: level without shooting = bonus point; without photons = photon bonus.
Vectorman 2 (pause): general code Up, Right, Square, X, Square, Down, Left, Square, Down; full health X, Square, X, Square, Left, Up(2); extra life Right, Up, X, Square, Down, Up, X, Down, Up, X; transformation into Fire Ant/Shield (invincible) Circle, Square, Left(2), Down, Square, Down, repeated until the weapon sound stops.
Virtua Fighter 2: hidden options: in the options screen highlight "Exit" and press Left. Dural: at the select screen hold Left until the counter reaches "One". No damage: highlight player 1's lives and hold B until "No Damage" appears. Select time 99 seconds: Down, Up, Right, A + Left. Alternate costumes: Down + A, Up + A, Down + C or Up + C.
